Recognition measures how a career looked to the people handing out plaques. Contribution measures what was different afterwards for everyone else. These are the second kind of numbers.
Each one is defined below, including what it deliberately excludes. A figure you cannot interrogate is a claim, not a measure.

Entry into a sector was never about diversification for its own sake. Each one was chosen where existing operators had left a gap — a capability nobody was providing, or a standard nobody was holding.

Enterprises Created
A company counts here only if it outlived the conditions it was founded in — surviving a restructure, a succession, or a market turning against it. Ventures that were wound down deliberately are counted too; closing something well is part of the work.

Measured by what a community can point to afterwards: employment that lasted, infrastructure that still functions, or training that people carried into their next job. Donations are not counted.

Counted when the other party came back. A first engagement is a sale; a second is a partnership. Government advisory work is counted only where the recommendation reached implementation.

Careers that started in one of these companies and went somewhere else entirely. Advice taken at the right moment. Decisions not made because someone raised an objection in a room. None of it is countable, and it is probably the larger part of the record.
